We recently had some little friends over to make some Easter Crafts with us. We had a lot of fun and made some good clean messes and cute Easter eggs!
POTATO STAMP EGGS
The first way we decorated our paper eggs was with potato stamps. Before the kiddos got there I cut several shapes of stamps out of potatos (polka dot, heart, square, star...)
Then when they were ready for some painting action, I put several colors of washable tempera paint on plates and showed the kids how to dip the potato stamps into the paint and stamp them on the paper.
The paints started getting pretty mixed together but then we got some cool marbleizing effects.
They turned out very cute and colorful!
TISSUE PAPER EGGS
Next we decorated our paper eggs with tissue paper. I set out a bunch of little cut up pieces of tissue paper for the kids (the same ones I used for the stained glass crosses) and mixed craft glue with a little water in a bowl (you could also use Mod Podge but I used glue since it is cheaper).
I helped the kids paint a layer of glue on their eggs.
Then they started sticking the tissue paper to the glue. Some liked to stick pieces one at a time and some liked to sprinkle and then press them all down.
Once we had the eggs covered with tissue paper we painted another layer of glue on top.
Then we laid them out to dry. They look very festive!
MARBLEIZED EGGS
The last way we decorated our paper eggs was marbleizing them with shaving cream and paint! I love this technique!
Here is the tutorial for how we did that.
We had fun experimenting with different media and making some pretty Easter Eggs!
