Hand-print Zoo Animals {toddler craft}

My little guy LOVES to go to the zoo.  We have a season pass to the zoo and while there was nice weather this winter and spring we were going almost every week!

His favorite animals these days are giraffes, lions, and elephants and since he also loves to paint I decided to help him make paintings of his favorite animals!

You will need:
washable tempera paint
paint brush
white and blue construction paper
black pen
To get started I painted my little artist's hand and stamped it on the white paper.
We made 2 yellow hand-prints and 1 grey hand-print.  With one of the yellow hand-prints, I painted on a giraffe neck and then had him dab on orange fingerprints to be the giraffe's spots.
After getting him cleaned up, I painted faces on the animals.  Once they dried I outlined them with a black pen so they would show up better.
To finish the project I glued them on a sheet of blue construction paper.

We hung it up on his gallery wall in his big boy room and he loves to point to it and make the animal noises!

    These are just adorable. I have Christmas Wreaths that I made with my kids many years ago and I still hang them up every year – and they are 28 and 25 now. These are the things I treasure.

    What a fun idea! I love doing finger and hand print crafts with my son. He’s too young for the hand prints because he just makes a mess, but I definitely want to do this when he gets a little older!
