I always love to make gifts for people but it's usually easier for me to come up with ideas of cute things to make for girls (cute clothes, bows, jewelry...) than boys. This is a gift I came up with that it partially handmade and partially a collection of creative, thrifty things that come together to make a fun gift for a budding artist. I like to give a gift like this to a child turning 1 or 2 because these are some of my son's favorite things to play with these days.
I started by making some playdough using my "perfect playdough" recipe.
I found some cute little artist smocks (or maybe they are super duper bibs?) at Ikea and used a paint marker to paint the child's name on it.
I also got some crayons and then at the dollar store I picked up a coloring book, construction paper, and a plastic tub to put it all in.
I arranged it all in the basket and made a card for the front that looked like a crayon.
Then I wrapped it in plastic wrap-- all ready to go!

This is such a great idea for a gift. I went to a Bday party last month and gave a pretty similar gift. Thanks for sharing!
