Why spend $ on bottles of salad dressing (with who knows what added in) when you can make your own super yummy vinaigrette quickly, easily, and with what you probably already have?
I mix up different combos depending on what flavors I am going for but here is the basic recipe:
3 T. vinegar (any kind you want)
3 T. oil (I usually use extra virgin olive, but sometimes canola)
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1 tsp. sugar, honey, agave nectar (whatever kind of sweetener you prefer)
(optional) herbs
Just dump them all in a small container with a tightly fitting lid and shake it up baby! (Don't forget to taste it and see if it needs any adjustment to fit your taste.) You could also use an emersion blender or food processor. You can make extra and store it in the fridge for about a week.
Here are some variations I like to make:
Lime/Cilantro vinaigrette: instead of straight vinegar use 1/2 lime juice and 1/2 vinegar and add some chopped cilantro
balsamic Herb vinaigrette: use balsamic vinegar and fresh or dried herbs
Fruity vinaigrette: use a fruit vinegar (like raspberry or peach)
