We had so much fun making the marbleized hearts for Valentines day (and they turned out so cute) that we decided to make some marbleized Easter eggs too!  This time we used multiple colors and I have to say that I love the way they turned out!

You will need:

shaving cream

plastic plate

washable tempera paint

knife

card-stock paper

I also recommend aprons, drop cloths, and a wet rag to have handy… this can get pretty messy  (but that is part of the fun!)

First I cut some egg-shapes out of the card-stock paper.  They were about the same size as the plate.

Next I covered the plate with shaving cream and used the knife to spread it out smooth.  I dotted 4 colors of paint on the shaving cream, and then started swirling the colors together.

And we swirled some more…

Then we laid the paper egg on top of the shaving cream/paint and pressed it down.

We pulled it off and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Then I used the flat-side of the knife to scrape the shaving cream and paint off of the paper, and we were left with these beautiful swirly patterns!!!

  1. I love how you used the marbled effect for eggs! Super fun!

PS. I just wanted to let you know that I love the check if you’re human box…it’s so much easier than the phrases that I can never read! Thanks!

  2. This is such a good idea. I love how they turned out. I may have to try this with my little ones. You have a wonderful blog here with a lot of very creative ideas. Can’t wait to see what else you post.

  3. Cool technique. I suppose you could use more subdued colors to get a more sophisticated look. Great for making cards and decorative paper. Thanks for sharing.
