This is a fun necklace I recently made as a gift. It combines glass beads, wires, and chains to make a long necklace that can be worn several different ways.

You will need:

mixed glass or stone beads

large silver chain with round loops

small silver chain

medium silver-coated wire

flat-tipped pliers

round-tipped pliers

wire clippers

To get started, I used the flat-tipped pliers to open the small loops that were connecting the big loops together.

Next, I wanted to make a lot of the beaded links.  To make these, I first used the round-tipped pliers to make a little loop in the end of a piece of wire.

Then I slipped some beads on and made another loop on the other side of the beads, then clipped off the excess wire.  I made a bunch of these with different bead combos.

I clipped the wire into lots of small segments.

Next I was ready to start assembling the necklace.  I used the flat-tipped pliers to open the loops on the ends of the beads, then I slipped the loops through the ends of the chain...

... and used the flat-tipped pliers to pinch the wire loops closed tightly.

To attach the large loops to the chain, I used the smaller loops which I bent shut using both pliers.

I just kept attaching the beads and loops to the segments of chain until I was happy with the length. I wanted it to be long enough to fit around your neck a few times and still dangle pretty low.
