We recently had a few little friends over to make some Easter Crafts. We started with the least messy crafts and worked our way up to the messiest (which was the marbleized paper eggs). This project was the first one we did because it hardly makes a mess at all! The project can be modified to fit any occasion.
You will need:
colored tissue paper, cut or torn into small pieces
clear contact paper
construction paper
1 piece of card-stock
pencil
scissors
tape
Before the kiddos got there I cut out the cross shapes. I made a pattern out of card-stock and traced it onto several pieces of construction paper and cut them out.
I also cut out several pieces of contact paper that were a little smaller than the construction paper (for each cross you will need 2 pieces).
To get started, I gave each child a piece of contact paper (sticky side up) and showed them how to stick pieces of tissue paper to it.
I found that with the little ones it was best to just sprinkle the tissue paper pieces onto the contact paper and let them press them down.
Older kids are more meticulous about the placement of their tissue paper.
Once we had enough tissue paper stuck to the contact paper, I helped them sprinkle on some glitter.
Then I stuck another piece of contact paper to the top...
and pressed it down flat.
Next, we taped the contact paper to the back of the construction paper.
I wrote "Jesus loves me on the front."
This is what it looks like with the sun shining through! It is a good reminder for us at Easter time what a beautiful thing Christ did on the cross for us!
